Fetch the connected scanner's firmware, and verify whether it satisfies the conditions of the application.
Also check whether the scanner's product number is enabled.
- The device must be connected to a scanner.
- On success: The scanner could be reached and validated
- On product reg. error: The scanner is not enabled by the system, i.e. not in the list of valid products
- On generic error: A connection to the scanner could not be established
